Decent enough!Entertaining,a bit boring at times...
You won't find anything better on TV or the silver screen, I guarantee it. We know about the gangsters of New York and Chicago of the 1920's and 1930's, but we never were told of the gangsters of Atlantic City run by Nuchy Thompson who we also never heard of - until now.
Boardwalk Empire is a great show to portray life as it was in Atlantic city in 1920. As you watch it is is like you have traveled back in time and your living with in Atlantic City.
I really like this series, but am confused about the music under the opening credits. Since the series is set in the 20s why do we have very modern rock music playing.
The true excellency is really so rare in TV production, and HBO becomes mature and respectable network, as nearly always you can expect from it are something truly great. Probably the best known trademark of HBO is Sopranos (I will not count other genre shows, as I want to focus on Crime genre here), and now as a equal partner to S we have this show.
The cigarette smoking is like one big commercial for Big Tobacco. Yes, supposedly its a "period piece" and people smoked.
The bally-hoo surrounding Boardwalk Empire can't hide that this HBO stinker - well - stinks. HBO, the cable giant that is usually so good at historically-driven mini series, falls flat with this over-blown and over-done gangster mish-mash - all thanks to its director - Martin Scorsese.
Really it is good whenever the name of Martin Scrosese! As it shows the Roaring Twenties and corruption the Prohibition era.
I just got done watching the latest episode at http://trailerdb.net This show is loaded with excellent acting and writing!!!!!
