"The Oblongs" is a short-lived animated sitcom that aired on The WB from 2001-2002. It aired reruns on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, and was announced to be revived there sometime soon.
There are only a handful of animated shows that stand the test of time. This one, even though only one season was made, is every bit as good as The Flintstones, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, and Bob's Burgers.
The Sklar brothers made this show funny and watchable.
Really wish this would have gotten picked up, it was ahead of its time.
Why do some shows like these even have a fanbase? I mean really?
Why this series was ever created I will never know... I'm just glad it ended.
Out of all the adult programs, there was one unique TV show that Didn't go to the extreme, yet is features comedy for adults, and that was the Oblongs. When others think this show, they think the Mutant Simpsons- guy's burgers, but i think of it as a unique family sitcom.
THE OBLONGS is a short-lived cartoon about a family that lives in the vacinity of a toxic waste dump. As a result, they and their friends are all genetic mutants--ranging from the limbless father, the drunken and bald mother and their freakish children.
This show is one of my very favorites. I think people that like the Simpsons, Futurama, and Family Guy would also like The Oblongs.
