Biography

Ceylon-born Colin Gordon began acting on the West End stage as the hind legs of a horse in 'Toad of Toad Hall' in 1934. After wartime service, he returned to the stage, appearing in such plays as 'The White Carnation' and 'The Little Hut' - twice.

1937-1940: Produced for Fred Meliville at the Brixton Repertory Theatre.

Won the inaugural Clarence Derwent Award for his role as "Rupert Billings" in "The Happiest Days Of Your Life". From then on, he gave up producing and became a full-time actor.

At first it was producing for the stage that claimed his attention. After six years service in the British Army, he returned to the theatre as a producer-actor, where he found roles in repertory and small parts on tour and in London.

Educated at Marlborough College and Christ Church Oxford.
