Trivia

Was the "voice" of NBC television network for many years. Also the voice on RCA TV commercials and the voice-over for Keebler cookies. Also the voice on the "Super Friends" animated series, Budweiser and Raid commercials but probably best known as Starkist Tunas "Sorry Charlie" voice-over.

Following his death, he was interred at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.

Died the same year as fellow Superman actor Christopher Reeve and Marlon Brando , who played Supermans biological father Jor-El, in the first Superman film.

As the voice of Superman on the "Super Friends" animated series, he was one of two actors who voiced a character during the series entire run (the other was Casey Kasem as Robin).
