Biography

Gwenfair Vaughan is a transatlantic Welsh actress based in New York whose career encompasses a diverse body of international work. A versatile performer with a gift for comedy and the dramatic, she has played a wide range of characters in television, film, theater and radio. She is probably best known for her portrayal of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle in the 2016 EMMY Award-winning, BAFTA nominated 'Peter Rabbit'. The first actor to be contracted for the series, she continues to portray the iconic character world-wide on the Nickelodeon USA, BBC UK, ABC Australia, Treehouse Canada & RTE networks. Gwenfair has consistently worked in television throughout her career, whilst also appearing in independent film. Having been contracted to a number of networks, her television experience includes playing a variety of characters as series regular, recurring, and guest roles in multiple seasons on comedy, period and contemporary drama series'. In addition to her acting credits, she has also enjoyed working as a television presenter, a role which has been well suited to her interest in people and ability to think on her feet. Her love of theater has seen her playing familiar characters in classical plays and originating roles in new written work. Having toured internationally, she has performed on stages in New York and London, as well as in U.S and UK regional theater, and is a member of the award-winning Irish Repertory Theater Company, New York. No stranger to BBC radio, she has hosted educational programs, has narrated documentary series' in addition to acting in several radio drama plays. Her adaptable voice has also been heard voicing animation and commercial work for notable organizations. A graduate of The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, New York she also has a B.A in Communications and Drama from the University of Wales.

Although Gwenfair broke a leg acting in an Off Broadway show in New York, she carried on performing on crutches especially made to match her 19th century costume - the show must go on!.

She learned to sail in Sydney Harbour, Australia and has crewed in point to point sailing races.

An accomplished swimmer, she gained advanced pool and open sea lifesaving qualifications as well as a teaching certificate.

Whilst white water rafting in Queensland Australia, she was thrown overboard and nearly drowned in the rapids.

She studied at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, New York, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Wales and is a graduate of the Commercial Theater Institute New York.

When sharing the stage with Oprah Winfrey and Hilary Rodam Clinton at the International EMMYS, she was appointed her own Secret Service Agent to protect her.

On arriving at a guest house in Ireland, Gwenfair had to administer emergency first aid to a small boy who had severed his thumb in a door. The boys family later informed her, that her actions had made it possible for a surgeon to successfully reattach the little boys thumb and secure his ability to use his hand.
