Biography

Born 13 January 1931 in Ipswich, England, Ian Hendry's career began rather auspiciously--playing the fall guy for a circus clown. After attending London's Central School of Speech and Drama, things started progressing nicely when he starred as "Dr. Geoffrey Brent" in _"Police Surgeon" . His career was cut short on 24 December 1984, as he died from a internal hemorrhage at age 53.

He was actually the primary focus and was top-billed over partner Patrick Macnee when the first season of "The Avengers" hit the airwaves. The more successful pairings of Macnee with Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg came later.

He was the father of three daughters Corrie Hendry, Emma Hendry and Sally Hendry.

Won the 1966 "Golden Star" award for his performances in the TV series, "The Informer" .

Was booked to play a British reporter in Lace II , but died before filming began.

Ex-son-in-law of Alex Munro.

Heavy drinking affected his later career and probably led to his early death. After his death, a special concert to celebrate his life and work was arranged in order to raise the funds necessary to pay his funeral expenses.
