Trivia

On December 27, 2005 in the City and London Borough of Westminster, Inman entered into a civil partnership with Ron Lynch, his life partner of 33 years. This was allowed to take place under a new British law that had come into effect the week before which gave official recognition to same-sex relationships by way of civil partnerships, without official recognition by the Church of England. Full same-sex marriages were passed by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, for England and Wales, in July 2013 and came into force on March 13, 2014, with the first same-sex marriages taking place on March 29, 2014, seven years to the month after Inmans death.

In December 2004, he was forced to pull out of the London pantomime production of "Dick Whittington," after being diagnosed with hepatitis A. Thereafter his health declined further and he never worked again.

He was named BBC TV Personality of the Year in 1976.
