Margot was born in London, Ontario, Canada and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1989 where she attended the Vancouver Youth Theatre for a number of years.
Graduated from the University of Toronto in 2003 with a BA in History and later went on to obtain her JD in law in 2006.
