Nancy Travis was born in New York City, to Theresa, a social worker, and Gordon Travis, a sales executive. She lived in Baltimore and Boston before returning to her birthplace to study drama at New York University. Her first job out of school was with New York's American Jewish Theater, after which she hit the road, joining the national tour of 'Neil Simon .
Has reunited with two of her 3 Men and a Baby co-stars on other projects. She was in the 2000 TV-movie Running Mates with Tom Selleck and was a series regular on "Becker" with Ted Danson.
She has two sons with her husband, Robert N. Fried. Benjamin E. Fried , who was born in 1998, and Jeremy Fried , who was born in 2001.
