A ruggedly handsome action man of the 1960s and '70s, Steve Forrest was born William Forrest Andrews in Huntsville, Texas, the youngest of thirteen children of Annis as a dedicated amateur beekeeper.

Sixteen years younger than his more famous brother, actor Dana Andrews.

Three sons: Michael, Forrest and Stephen.

Was the 12th of 13 children of Baptist minister Charles Andrews. After Army service in World War II, including fighting at the ferocious Battle of the Bulge, he graduated from UCLA, with a degree in theater.

As a stagehand at La Jolla Playhouse near San Diego, CA in the early 1950s, Forrest was discovered by Gregory Peck , who helped him get his first screen test which led to a contract with MGM.

Made a cameo appearance as the teams van driver in S.W.A.T. the film version of his "S.W.A.T." series, in which Samuel L. Jackson played Forrests lead role of Hondo.

Was a staunch conservative Republican.

He originally began his career as a beefcake model.

He and his elder brother Dana Andrews made guest appearances in consecutive episodes of "The Twilight Zone" : Andrews in "The Twilight Zone" {No Time Like the Past (#4.10)} and Forrest in "The Twilight Zone" {The Parallel (#4.11)} .

He outlived all of his twelve siblings.

Sealed Cargo was the only film that he and his elder brother Dana Andrews made together.
