Was appointed an OBE in 1994.
She was trained at the Arts Educational School at Tring.
In the late 1960s she was briefly engaged to "Top of the Pops" presenter and Radio 1 DJ Pete Murray. She has also had brief affairs with Albert Finney and "Blue Peter" co-presenter Peter Purves.
